An NBA Star and Zanesville native is giving back to the community in a big way.
Kevin Martin of the Minnesota Timberwolves held his annual wrapping party Tuesday evening. 10 area families in need are chosen and gifts are then bought and wrapped for the members of those families by area students and friends and family of Martin. This year, Martin asked Tim McHugh to collaborate with him. McHugh shared his thoughts on the motivation behind the giving.
"Well, part of it I think is getting the kids involved, trying to instill in them how important this is, so as they get older, maybe they get into a position like where they can have more of an impact they will remember this and then they’ll participate, and then maybe they’ll partner with somebody else and kind of make a difference in somebody’s life."
McHugh told us he was tickled to death to be apart of the wrapping this evening. He told us, its a feeling he wishes would last past the Christmas Season.
"It’s a feeling you wish you could have year round. It’s always, people get a little more serious about giving around Christmas time and it gives you a good feeling to help people that are really trying to make it and they just need a little bit of help, and to have it come down to the difference between having Christmas, having something to give a small child or not, this means a lot."
