For the first time this year, the Muskingum County Business Incubator is offering a workshop prior to its “Big Idea” contest.
The March 25 workshop will give people the opportunity to meet with a lawyer to learn more about applying for a patent. Client Manager, Wendy Edgar, said the workshop provides an easier way for people to decide if their idea is worth applying for a patent.
“Instead of paying an hour time to a patent attorney, come for $30 and get some general knowledge, and then we’re expecting it’s the same crowd that will then apply for the ‘Big Idea’ contest,” Edgar said.
The workshop starts at 5:30 on the 25th. Edgar said intellectual property lawyer, Ty Kendrick, will give an hour presentation and then answer any questions people may have about getting a patent.
“It’s open to anybody in the public, and it’s really just kind of an inexpensive way for $30 to get a nice knowledge base of what a patent is,” Edgar said.
To register for the workshop you can visit www.mcbi.info or call (740) 453-3649.
