Bicyclist Killed after Accident on State Route 60 South

One woman is dead, and a man is critically injured after being hit while riding their bicycles Thursday evening.

It happened around 5:10 p.m. on State Route 60 South near Shelly and Sands. According to Sgt. Kevin Kelley of the State Highway Patrol, a van being driven by 66-year-old Marjeane B. Hammer of Blue Rock was heading north on 60 when she went off the right side of the roadway slamming into the back of the two cyclists who were also heading north.

One of the cyclists, 42-year-old Brenda S. Hoffman of Cambridge was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The other cyclist, 36-year-old Bradley K. Hollingsworth of Nashport was MedFlighted to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

Hammer was transported to Good Samaritan with minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
