Even dogs and cats deserve a nice home all of their own.
To do this…AmeriCorps ohio college guides and the Carpentry Juniors at Mid East joined forces. They built dog and cat houses for animals adopted from the Animal Shelter. AmeriCorps member Jordan House describes the purpose of the event.
“I wanted to service the animals in the community. There are so many that are out here that are good animals that go without home, and are left here. I wanted to try, and bring that forever home, and happiness to the families.”
The homes come in two sizes, small and large. As long as supplies last, they will be given away for free to anyone who adopts a cat, or dog at the animal shelter. Donations were made by several organizations to make these home a reality.
“I would like to say thank you to Zane State, Veteran’s Club, Pathways to Engineering for being a part of this. Muskingum County Community Foundation, Scholarship Central, Mid East, the AmeriCorps program, all of it.”
If you were unable to make it out today, but would still like to adopt a pet, the animal shelter is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday, and between 10 to 4 on Saturdays. Any homes left over from today’s event will be left with the shelter to be given out upon future adoptions.
