Every other year, the Thursday Music Club hosts a celebration concert.
It started a few years ago when the club and Secrest Auditorium wanted to showcase musical talent in Zanesville. This concert occurred this weekend.
"We’ve kind of taken on this theme of Bach to Broadway, so that encompasses a wide area of different musical styles," concert co-chair, Larry Ledford said. "We’re trying to feature some of our junior musicians who have been taught by many members of the music club."
The Thursday Music Club provides scholarships to junior musicians to be able to attend summer music camp. Those scholarship recipients got to play in front of hundreds of people attending the free concert Saturday. Another concert co-chair, Janet Slack, explained the significance of this concert.
"It’s just local talent and it’s a free concert, and a lot of people don’t have any idea how much talent there is in Zanesville," she said.
Ledford said around 75 to 100 people performed in the concert Saturday night.
