West Muskingum High School is holding a special event in the coming days.
For the first time ever on Monday, April 27th at 6PM, former Ohio State Football players will be making an appearance at the local educational facility. The players will be taking part in a basketball game. The high school is co-hosting the event with the Richard’s Wish Foundation. We spoke to Sam Gianettino who gave us an overview of some of the things guests will enjoy.
“We’re going to have some OSU football alumni come down and they’ll be available for merchandise sales, memorabilia sales, pictures, some shirt sales and at 7 o’clock we’ll kick off the game. Half-time will roll around and we’ll do some raffles as well as have a few games there and then we’ll finish off the night with the game.”
There will be a variety of players in attendance, including Maurice Clarette. All of the money raised that evening will be going to support the West Muskingum Track Team. Money raised on concessions will go toward the sports committee. Gianettino says the event is geared toward the whole community. Gianettino explains the value behind what they are doing.
“I feel that number one in general, any sport that their is, coaches teach a lot more than just the sport. You learn a lot of things with sports that you can deal with in life situations that will help you cope. To have a night out on the town, to rally behind the Buckeyes, show your support for an MVL team here at West Muskingum, and show your kids or the youth that, you know, we really do back them up and we do care about them.”
Pre-sale tickets can be bought at west Muskingum High School. They cost $10 for adults and $5 for students. Gianettino hopes there will be a big crowd of people. Don’t forget to wear your Buckeye gear!
