The first annual Veteran’s Appreciation Weekend is coming up on the second weekend in June.
The weekend will feature a ‘Flags of Honor’ presentation, a Poker Run, live music at Terry’s Tavern, and it will finish up with a golf outing at Green Valley Golf Club. General Manager of Green Valley Steve Galloway explained how the idea for the weekend came about.
"It was basically just us three guys, Tim and Wayne, and I and we decided to do something for the veterans," said Galloway.
The outing will feature a 4-man Scramble as well as food and skill hole prizes. Registration is just $ 50 per player and $200 for teams. Anyone interested in joining the outing can contact Green Valley, Terry’s Tavern, or Fink’s Harley Davidson. Galloway said he got involved because he just wanted to show his appreciation.
"We just wanted to do something to show the veterans how much we appreciate them," said Galloway. "I want my golf course to be more veteran friendly. I have veteran discounts out here."
All proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
