The Drug Coalition of Muskingum County met to discuss future plans to improve the drug problem in the local area.
They are reaching out to the public in August with a forum to take action against drug use in Muskingum County.
“We’re going to have people come in from all different walks of life in Muskingum County and the Attorney General’s Office is going to walk us through some exercises where we’re going to talk about what we think needs to be done,” said CEO of Muskingum Behavioral Health Steve Carrel. “We know that the drug problem is huge and to attack it in whole is impossible.”
The August forum would be followed by a secondary discussion in September in order to continue to make strides. The coalition also discussed their concerns on the amendment to legalize marijuana in Ohio that could grace the fall ballot.
“It was pretty much the consensus that there’s a lot of concern about legalization, that there are a lot of potential problems with the legalization of marijuana,” said Carrel.
