A Sprint Car Driver made a visit to Zanesville Monday.

Greg Wilson was out at City Tire signing autographs and taking photos with his fans. We had the chance to talk to him Monday and he told us more about his history as a driver.

“We’ve been traveling with the Sprint Car Series for about 20 years now and won the All-Star [Circut of Champions] Championship in 2006, 2007 and we’re sitting 5th in the points right now and we travel all over following the series and chasing races.”

Wilson said they are able to find races anywhere in the country from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Racing is something he has been interested in for a long time. Wilson told us more about the unique car he has wanted to drive since he was a child.

“They’re twelve hundred pounds. We race on dirt ovals all over.” Explained Wilson. “We’ve actually raced at the racetrack here in Zanesville in Muskingum County. Nine hundred horsepower. Depending on the size of the track we get up to speeds around one hundred and sixty, one hundred and seventy miles an hour down the straight away. One hundred and forty miles an hour average–lap average.”

Wilson was at City Tire from 11AM to 3PM Monday afternoon. To learn more about the driver you can visit the website: gregwilsonracing.com
