For years, the Southeastern Ohio Solid Waste Management District has accepted electronic recyclables at a special event.
The event is going on Monday through Wednesday of next week. The district will accept all electronics relating to TVs, phones and computers. Robert Reiter is the SEO Solid Waste Management District Coordinator. He said many of the things accepted shouldn’t be thrown out because of the make up of them.
“There’s been a big push for several years to keep electronics out of landfills because they do have some type of resale value,” he said. “Although that’s dropped over the past probably six to seven years that values been dropping. But the televisions, this will probably stay in focus until all the CRT TVs are gone.”
He continued to say the event brings in tons of items each year.
“We probably ship close to 18 trailer loads of this material over 15 days.”
People can drop items off between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each of the three days next week at the Muskingum County Recycling Facility on Adamsville Road.
