Ohioans looking for the best deal on back to school supplies only have to wait one more weekend.
From Friday, August 7 to Sunday the 9, back to school supplies up to $20 an item, clothes valued up to $75 an item and instructional material up to $20 an item will not have a sales tax attached. It’s part of a bill passed last December that will wave the sales tax on qualifying items for three days.
Sixteen states around the country have enacted similar holidays in past years. Kevin Pinson who is the marketing and business development coordinator at the Colony Square Mall, said the mall has used malls in other states to gage how the crowd might be during the sales tax holiday.
“We’ve talked with other malls from states that have done this for several years, and they say it is a very big, busy weekend with a lot of great savings. We’ve alerted all of our retailers to be ready for it, and they’re putting on the big sales. 1:34 Folks can really add up some savings that weekend.”
