Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says two men are jail after two separate drugs busts. Members of the Muskingum County/City Join Drug Task Force along with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested Matthew Ryan Smith on Wednesday July 15th after an investigation into drug trafficking.
Lutz say during that raid methamphetamine, US currency and a vehicle were seized. Smith is charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted of all charges Smith could face 4 and a half years in prison. Sheriff Lutz says the second arrest happened on Monday July 20th after authorities served two search warrants. They were served at 108 South Pembroke Avenue in South Zanesville and 3000 Moxadarla Road lot 46 in Zanesville.
The Sheriff says US currency, cocaine, marijuana, prescription pain pills and spice was recovered with a street value of $5500. Lutz says 31-year-old Jimmy Joe Davidson is charged with 3 counts of trafficking in drugs with school, juvenile and forfeiture specifications for firearms and US currency. He is also facing two counts of corrupting another with drugs. If convicted Davidson faces 3 to 46 years in prison. The case is the result of citizen complaints about possible drug activity in their neighborhood.
