Animals & Art Unite for 2nd Annual ‘Dog Day’

by Lindsay Jobst on August 19, 2015

It’s time to get your pups ready for the second annual "Dog Day" this weekend.

Gallery ‘G’ is inviting the public and their pets to North Valley Bank this Saturday for a day of art-filled fun. Local artists from across the community will be showcasing their artwork for sale, and several dogs from the Muskingum County Animal Shelter will be up for adoption.

"Several artists are bringing artwork in on display and the bank has already had a running exhibit of that, but we’re going to bring more things outside, and then with that, we’re going to do a ‘Paws Paint a Canvas,’ which means we’re going to have animals putting paint on their paws with their owners help, and they’re actually going to walk on canvas and make an original piece to take home, and then their donation for that will support the Animal Shelter and the K-9 Unit," said Gallery ‘G’ Owner, Bob Grayson.

The event is family-friendly. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet Coner, the K-9 dog, and his officer, who will be demonstrating ‘run and chase’ maneuvers all day for the kids to enjoy. All donations from the event will be split between the K-9 Unit and the Animal Shelter.

"We appreciate that Bob Grayson and the artists have pictures that are going to be there for sale, because that is mainly what the Animal Shelter thrives on is donations, and any amount helps the shelter, we would love to partner with anyone who does, we would like to help them and they can help us," said Animal Shelter employee, Elena Kent.

The benefit is this Saturday at North Valley Bank on Maple Avenue in Zanesville, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be food and refreshments available for donation.
