Kids entering kindergarten this school year filled their backpacks with items they need for the first day.
The Muskingum Families and Children First Council came together to purchase school supplies and give them away to those who struggle to afford everything on the ever growing list.
“We want to celebrate with the kindergartners for going into kindergarten or joining school altogether so we want to help them celebrate as well as help out the family,” said M.F.C.F.C Administrative Assistant Thasia Schilling.
Cheerleaders from local schools were there to celebrate with each child who entered, to welcome them to the school. Miss Ohio Princess Mackenzie Welch handed out supplies and she’s excited to help kids get to school on the right foot.
“I love handing out supplies to the kids to help them get to school with all the supplies that they need to have a good year and good start for the year,” said Welch.
Almost 500 children entering kindergarten left OUZ with all they need this fall.
