The Zanesville Fire Department has a new Lieutenant.
Ed Roberts was sworn in Friday in a ceremony at Zanesville City Hall, while surrounded by co-workers, family and friends. Roberts told us he is looking forward to his new responsibilities.
“It means a good deal, been working on it for the past few years, getting ready for it and just looking forward to the opportunity of working with the fire fighters…and just continuing to serve, continuing to work with the guys, we have a great group fire fighters who work here and enjoy coming to work everyday,” Roberts said.
Roberts is an 11-year veteran with the fire department. He said his duties won’t change too much, but hopes to continue to work as team, and provide the city with the best service possible.
“I’ll have fire fighters at my station and I anticipate we’ll work together and as long as we form a team, that’ll be my main goal,” he said. “The best part of being apart of the team here is getting to fix a bad situation for someone, whenever we show up a lot of time it’s their worst day and any time we can do something to make it a little bit better it’s a good feeling.”
Roberts replaced former Lieutenant Doug Hobson.
