“Okie From Muskogee” Coming to Secrest

by Lindsay Jobst on September 9, 2015

A country music icon is coming to Zanesville this October.

The multi-talented, Merle Haggard, will bring his legendary sound to Secrest Auditorium on October 18, with hits like "Okie from Muskogee" and "The Fightin’ Side of Me." The Country Music Hall of Famer has 40 number one hits, and his inventive country music twang has inspired artists all over the world.

"Merle Haggard is such a huge name in the country music industry, he’s been around for decades, he’s performed with multiple different artists, George Jones, Johnny Cash and Buck Owens," said Sara Haren, Dusty Guitar Promotions Operations Manager.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. on October 18 and ticket prices range from $49 to $69 per person. The outlaw-country pioneer has been producing chart-topping hits since the 60’s and continues to make influential music today.

"He’s actually still very relevant, he and Willie Nelson just released an album, ‘Django and Jimmie’ this year, so he’s still producing hits, as well as all the classic hits, ‘Mama Tried,’ ‘Okie from Muskogee,’ ‘If We Make it Through December,’ all the hits that you grew up listening to," Haren said.

Tickets go on sale this Friday. You can purchase them at the Secrest Auditorium box office on Shinnick Street, online at dustyguitarpromotions.com, or by phone at, 740-454-6851.
