Crews responded to the Philo-Duncan Falls bridge after an ATV accident this morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the male driver headed east on the bridge’s sidewalk into Duncan Falls. The man’s cousin, Dee Webb identified the driver as Steven Looney.
After making it halfway across the bridge on the south side sidewalk, the state patrol said Looney hit the guard rail of the sidewalk causing the ATV to bounce and lock onto a pillar of the bridge.
The state patrol reported that the man was ejected but never lost consciousness. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was transported via MedFlight with head injuries.
No word on possible citations. Looney has a license to drive the All Purpose Vehicle on roadways, but it is against state law to drive ATVs on sidewalks.
The state patrol continues its investigation.
