Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox says a “big fish” in narcotics trafficking in Muskingum County was sentenced Wednesday in Common Pleas Court. 36-year-old Darren Reese of Zanesville went before Judge Mark Fleegle and received 16 years in prison and was ordered to forfeit just over 12-thousand dollars in U.S. currency and a 2011 Buick seized in the case. Reese faced multiple charges including trafficking in cocaine, illegal manufacture of cocaine and possession of cocaine. Reese was arrested this past June after several months of investigations into drugs in the Pine Street and Baker Street areas. Members of the Zanesville Police Department and Muskingum County Sheriffs’ Office Joint Drug Task Force along with the Central Ohio Drugs Enforcement Task Force participated in the investigation which resulted in multiple arrests.
