Next Monday marks the deadline for voter registration for the November general election.

The Muskingum County Board of Elections would like to remind those who don’t vote regularly that they may need to register again in order to be eligible to vote. Director of the Board of Elections Timothy Thompson said there are many places to register here in Muskingum County.

“Voters can register at the board of elections here,” said Thompson. “They can register at the bureau of motor vehicles. They can also go an register at any public high school or vocational school. They can go to the public library, county treasurers office to be able to fill out applications for voter registration.”

Thompson said that they expect the marijuana legalization issue to bring an influx of voters to the ballot box and he says that voting is an important role of the community.

“I think it’s important to register to vote because you have an opportunity to express your opinion about who should be running the county or running the townships or the issues that are important to you,” said Thompson.
