The Muskingum County Branch of the NAACP is recognizing those in our community who have dedicated their lives to civil rights.
The organization’s 47th annual “Freedom Fund Banquet” is coming up on October 31 and has a new location this year. Bryan Place will host the festivities, and the event will feature dinner, awards and a special guest speaker.
“We have it every year, the main event that we generate our operating expenses from, and we do scholarships and we support a lot of organizations around here, we donate a lot of it back to the community,” said NAACP Branch President, Kenneth Burke.
This year, the organization will present two prominent individuals in the community with a new award–The Muskingum County NAACP Image Award. Burke said the event is always a great way to bring the community together.
“We always like to do ours the Saturday before election, because it also brings out people running for office, and so it brings the community together, we have a wide participation from the community when we have this event,” Burke said.
The banquet will take place on October 31 at 6:30 p.m, at Bryan Place in downtown Zanesville. Tickets are just $30 per person. To purchase tickets, contact Kenneth Burke, at (740) 408-1148.
