Three more members were inducted into the Muskingum County Country Music Hall of Fame Sunday afternoon.
The fun filled day took place at Roger’s Auction Barn from 11 a.m to 5 p.m and included a lunch, live music, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes, a memorial for the deceased members and the honoring of this year’s new members. Each october an induction takes place and this year’s new members are the smith brothers. President of the club, Robert Pletcher gave us a little more information on the day:
“We have a lot of former inductees who are the full time members of this club. They’ve come to celebrate the years we’ve been together, they’re the ones who have carried the stuff in and out, played til…I’ll get home at 3 o’clock in the morning and take the kids to sunday school and things like that. Over the years they’ve played at least 15 years in the country music field in Muskingum County.”
The Muskingum County Music Club started in the mid 80’s and members have come from all over…from Fairfield to Coshocton to Licking County all to keep the tradition alive for their love of country music.
“I joined in 88. I had over 15 years by that time and it just keeps going on and on and although we’ve declined in the number of members we have due to various reasons, the number of people that are able to come to meetings, we keep going. We keep having fun and playing music” Pletcher later told us.
He says it’s been an honor being an officer and a part of this organization for all these years and they wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for the great support of the community.
