From athletics to academics, the Franklin Local School District celebrated some of its brightest stars.

The district inducted six individuals to the Franklin Local School District ‘Alumni Wall of Honor’, ‘Citizens Wall of Honor,’ and ‘Athletic Hall of Fame’ at a ceremony held Saturday at Philo High School. Mike Boysel, Amy Day, Dan Harris, Bonnie Jesse, Hallie Nesselroad, and Paul Pride were each acknowledged.

Superintendent of Franklin County local school district Sharon McDermont said the inductions weren’t always a combined event.

“A couple years ago we started combining these recognition ceremonies into one event,” said McDermott “We used to have separate events for the Wall of Honor and separate for the Hall of Fame but, now it’s induction night with a dinner and ceremony together. ”

Mcdermott said that the efforts made in school and in the community by those inducted inspire the walls and halls of recognition.

“To recognize those individuals that have helped the Franklin local school district for the alumni or citizens or they have exceeded in their field or career and for the Philo Athletic Hall of Fame it is for those who exceeded in athletics while they were a student at Philo High School,” said McDermont.

The school district is already looking to honor more community members next year. The nominations for the 2016 Wall of Honor will be accepted through March. The nominations for the 2016 Athletic Hall of Fame will be accepted through April. Guidelines and rules for nominations can be found at the Franklin Local School District Administration Office.
