Animal Shelter Society Annual Open House

It may have been a cold and foggy day outside Saturday but inside one local shelter it was warm and cuddly.

The Animal Shelter Society hosted its annual Open House. They had a wide range of deals and specials. Executive Director Jody Murray says some of the donations they receive will provide them with enough funds to stay active for half the year.

"Really that giving tree and the donations that we get through December, we kind of live off of those through about the middle part of the year, every year. So, this is that one time of the year where if you have a small group and wanted to do a fundraiser we are more than glad to work with you on that," said Murray.

There were also local vendors involved. We were able to speak to the pet consultant for invisible fence brand company, Marcia Pettet and she told  us this is something she looks forward to each year.

"It’s an awesome feeling, it’s giving back to our community helping the pets out there. The pets make great Christmas gifts obviously for the family so it’s a great way to give back to the community," said Pettet.
