Canal Winchester Man Faces Gun Charge

A Canal Winchester man is facing charges after he was found with a gun and its 30 round capacity magazine. The Zanesville Highway Patrol says it all started Friday when troopers stopped a vehicle on I-70 for a speed violation. The Patrol says a female driver was found to be driving under suspension and a male passenger declined to provide his information and was asked to step out of the vehicle after a bullet was observed on the floorboard. The male passenger ran from the scene but was later picked-up by officers from the Zanesville Police Department and Deputies from the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office. Troopers say during a search of the vehicle a black backpack containing a Cobray 9 millimeter M-11 was found along with a suppressor. There was also extra ammunition for the weapon and a pair of brown gloves. The male suspect is identified by the Highway Patrol as 26-year-old Patrick Brown. He was taken to the Muskingum County Jail.
