Art Adventure Face Off at Zanesville Museum of Art

Some area kids spent their morning creating little masterpieces.

Zanesville Museum of Art hosted their first art adventure face off, with found objects. Children ages 6 to 10 created 3-dimensional face paintings. Z-M-A’s Education Coordinator, Deborah Elliott said it’s something fun the kids can take home, frame and hang on their wall.

“This is one of our art adventure workshops, the whole idea is creative play. So we find all types of neat ideas for them to paint, sculpt and in this case it’s a little bit of both. They’re painting and sculpting with found objects. So bottle caps, old things we found around the studio for them to place and we’re going to make faces out of them,” said Elliott.

The cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. The price covers the material, paint, paper and the found objects.

“They were a little hesitant at first because, they want to draw a nice perfect face with eyes and a mouth. This project is all about the color and the shapes and going a little crazy with it. Being a little silly. I think once we get into that they’ll really take on the silliness of it,” said Elliott.
