ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â The Muskingum Valley Chapter of The American Red Cross is ready to spring into action if need be.
Red Cross Executive Director Marlene Henderson stresses the importance of being proactive.
“We encourage everyone to build an emergency kit. That is something you can have for each person in the family stored. Put it some place where you can get to it easily. Put your comfort things in it. We recommend that everyone has a gallon of water per day per person,” said Henderson.
The Red Cross recommends each emergency kit include three days of food and nonperishable water for each person in the home. Key items for the kit are flashlights, batteries, medication, and extra cash.
“If you have any question on how to build a kit or other things to put in the kit. Give us a call we’d be more than happy to give you all of the items. But just kind of think of the things that you need,” said Henderson.
