Williams and Shepherd Plead Not Guilty in Drug Case

The two people indicted this month in connection with the largest heroin bust n local history were arraigned in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court. 43-year-old Nathaniel Williams and 43-year-old Courtney Shepherd, both of Zanesville appeared in Common Pleas Court Wednesday and both pled not guilty. Williams is facing one count of trafficking in drugs and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Shepherd is facing charges that include possession of drug paraphernalia, permitting drug abuse and possession of drugs. Sheriff Matt Lutz says the two were part of a bust at 818 Ayers street by Zanesville Police and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office. Judge Kelly Cottrill continued Williams’s bond at 200-thousand dollars and Shepherd’s bond at 50-thousand dollars. A third suspect, Timothy “World” Matson was also arrested as part of this case and has already pled not guilty and is being held on one-million dollars bond.
