ZANESVILLE, Ohio- An anonymous donor will be helping save lives in our community.
A check for $2,500 in the hands of the Zanesville Fire Department for their ABC Wilson Fund which supplies free smoke detectors. That’s in addition to another check from The American Stave Company for $2,000 last month.
“When they gave the $2,000 that put smoke detectors back in the fire department for all of Muskingum County residents. This add to it. And now we are going to start to build that fund to where we don’t run out again. You know at one point. We did not have smoke detectors for 2 months. And that made it really tough for the residents,” said Zanesville Fire Assistant Chief Doug Hobson.
Hobson said smoke detectors help decrease the number of fire deaths.
“We’ve got a good replenishment of smoke detectors. Anybody can stop by in any of the Muskingum County Fire Department and pick up a smoke detector for their resident. Everybody needs to test their smoke detectors. Everybody need to change their batteries in their smoke detectors. There’s a phase out there where you sleep you should hear a bleep,” said Hobson.
Hobson said he is grateful for the generosity of the donor. He looks forward to continuing the mission of the ABC Wilson Fund.An anonymous donor will be helping save lives in our community.
