High school students who are ready take steps toward furthering their education had the chance to do just that at college night.
The 10th Annual College Night took place at the Ohio University of Zanesville Campus-Center. During this event, students received information about financial aid and the scholarship process. Heather Davis said students are entered to win a scholarship by simply showing up.
"To win the scholarship each year we hold college night the same time every year during Zane State and Ohio University-Zanesville spring break,"said Davis. "All they have to do is show up. So students can just come in and show up at the event, or preregister ahead of time and their entered into the raffle drawling."
Davis said the scholarship money comes from local businesses and higher education institutions.
"To set up a booth at college night they must donate a $250 scholarship. That’s how we are able to get so many scholarship donated. So the only people welcome to set up a table display are those donors that have been able to support students being able to go on to college. We’ve had students that win the scholarship in 7th grade and we award that to them when they go onto school once they graduate," said Davis.
