A Job Fair at the Zanesville Muskingum County Welcome Center offered local residents a chance to find employment in this area.
With 37 businesses represented, all actively hiring, people at the job fair got to meet and greet with employers and a chance to apply on the spot. One recent Muskingum University grad was among the over 150 people looking for work.
"I’m seeing a lot of opportunity for a variety of people," said Wyatt Nelson. "You’ve got people who only have a high school [diploma], people who have graduated, people like that, and just a bunch of opportunities if you can find the right place."
Nelson said he’s also applying for grad school but right now it’s all about paying the bills and finding somewhere he can get his foot in the door to start a career and he’s happy to have a place he and others can have face to face time with those hiring.
"I think that it’s good that it’s here," said Nelson. "I know for a lot of people it’s hard to find jobs because situations go bad whether something closes down or they get laid off and something like this helps people who need to pay the bills and support a family."
The job fair is sponsored by Ohio Means Jobs in Muskingum County, the WHIZ Media Group and the Chamber of Commerce.
