One local organization is giving expectant dads a crash-course in fatherhood.
ForeverDads is having a ‘Boot Camp for New Dads’ this coming Saturday. The hands-on workshop allows first-time dads learn what to expect from veteran fathers who’ve been there. Co-facilitator, Kasey Kelly, said the class covers everything from holding a newborn, to changing diapers.
“One thing that I think all new dads have in common is this overwhelming sense of emotion, they’re excited, but they’re also nervous and one thing that boot camp really does well is try to answer questions and calm those fears,” Kelly said.
The ‘Boot Camp for New Dads’ is Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at MVHC. The event is free and open to any expectant or new dad. You can go to foreverdads.com to sign up.
“They learn what to expect in the delivery room and how mom changes throughout the process, so there’s a lot of nerves and a lot of questions that they have, we try to answer all those,” Kelly said.
Kelly said he hopes participants walk out of the class with a new found confidence.
