The fifth annual ‘Cupcake War’ featured confection creations Thursday.
Eighteen participants showed off their pastry skills today at the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and some familiar faces taste tested the cakes to award first, second, and third prizes. A six dollar donation was all it cost to enjoy lunch and cupcakes for a good cause.
“It’s a great feeling,” said Cupcake War Committee Member Sarah Abrams. “I mean it’s definitely a lot of hard work that’s put in but today seeing everybody, seeing the displays, it pays off and it’s great knowing we’re going to help the individuals here in Muskingum County.”
With everything from an apple tree of cakes to a day on the beach, there were themes of all kinds at the event and Cupcake War Committee Member Patsy McDonald said it’s a great way to help the local community and have a little fun.
“The creativity out here today is outstanding,” said McDonald. “This is a fun activity to come out and enjoy other people’s artistic creativity and it also helps people that need food.”
All the money raised will benefit Operation Feed and the Muskingum County Hunger Network.
