A local family owned business is expanding to call South Zanesville home.

Maxwell’s Drive-thru and Pizzeria is setting up shop on Maysville Pike and while the restaurant is expected to open in the coming weeks, the drive-thru already operating seven days a week. It’s open Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Co-Owner Cas Maxwell said the drive-thru serves more than your typical beer and chips.

“Not only do we have your domestic beers and things that everybody likes but we’ve brought a lot of craft beers, a lot of imports,” said Maxwell. “We have a lot of wine from a bunch of different companies so we’re kind of trying to fit everybody’s needs. ”

The Maxwell family runs the business. First came a hunting and fishing store and drive-thru, south in McConnelsville, now comes a new store here in the Y-City. When we asked Maxwell why they decided to make it a family affair, he said ‘why not?’.

“Family, you know, it’s trust,” said Maxwell. “They’re always there. You guys get mad at each other a lot but at the end of the day it makes for great business. It does and people like to shop to places that have families too because who doesn’t love a good family.”

The restaurant will offer hot and ready carryout breakfast and lunch and a variety of artisan pizzas at dinner time. Hours for the new eatery will be Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
