The Muskingum Valley Garden Society was seen by the Y Bridge doing some gardening Monday.
The garden society used the funds they raised to purchase materials and supplies to beautify our community.
"We have about 25 volunteers that come down and help plant our containers downtown and today we did the Y Bridge," said Garden Society volunteer coordinator Darlene Turner. "We all will be doing the rest of downtown Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week to finish up for the summer."
Turner has been with the garden society for the past 12 years. Turner says the goal is to make downtown look nice. The garden society is a volunteer group that welcomes new members. There are still opportunities to join them plant some color in the city this week.
"We’ll be downtown Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5 o clock and if you’d like to come down here, bring a shovel and your gloves. We’ll be glad to put you to work here planting flowers," said Turner.
Turner would like to thank the community for supporting this effort to beautify our city. To learn more, visit www.mvgardensociety.org.
