Mother nature had other plans in mind when it came to a one day event that turned into a two day celebration.
The Fieldhouse Foundation held it’s 1st ever Bike Show and Poker Run this weekend. Marketing Director Alainna Durfe said they are holding this event to raise money for a special cause.
"They have six stops and what they’re doing is they came to the Barn to mix and mingle first. But, what they’re doing is all of the proceeds are going to the Fieldhouse Foundation to help special needs youth and veterans that have been injured while serving. This is extremely rewarding for us but, also it’s a great way to bring out what we do for our children and our veterans that maybe people don’t know and are unaware of," said Durfe.
Durfe said the Fieldhouse Foundation partnered with the Barn and Moto Works in order to get the event into formation. Phil Brainger said their overall goal is raise awareness for vets with PTSD.
"It’s one of the causes out there that probably doesn’t get as much notoriety as it should. Just simply because, it effects people in a way that doesn’t really present itself other than a everyday life. I kind of experienced it first hand here about 2 or 3 weeks ago and until then I didn’t completely understand what it could do," said Brainger.
Brainger said they plan to make this an annual event.
