ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Art Exhibition has been a tradition in Zanesville since 1942. Thursday the Zanesville Museum of Art opened the exhibit up to the public.
The event is a yearly tradition for the museum and features artists from around the state that work in a variety of mediums. Laine Snyder is the executive director of the art museum and said out of 400 applications, they have 55 artist this year displaying their work from every corner of Ohio.
“That’s the exciting thing about the Ohio annual. We get people from almost every county,†said Snyder. “And this year we are really fortunate to have local artist as well. We have some really wonderful artist in this region.â€
Betty Talbott from the Ohio Craft Museum judges each work, and money is given out to the winners. Synder said that this is one of her favorite events put on by the art museum each year, but it’s difficult to single out the best work of art.
“I don’t really have a favorite. If I did I don’t think I could tell you,†said Synder. “It’s a wonderful show because so many unique works are represented so it’s really exciting.â€
The works will be on display at the museum through September.
