The Zanesville Police Department says two recent armed robberies may be connected and today one person is in custody.
Detective Harry Taylor says the first incident happened at the Certified Gas Station at 1380 Greenwood Avenue Sunday just after 9:00 pm. A male walked in the store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money. A struggle happened with the on duty employee and the suspect fled. He is described as a short white male, thin build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, baseball cap and sunglasses. Taylor says the second incident happened just before midnight at the Moto Mart at 2341 Maple Avenue. A male – who fit the description of the first suspect – entered the business with a gun and demanded cash from the on-duty employee. He fled the scene with money and cigarettes. Detective Taylor says Tuesday the male suspect was taken into custody at a home in the 1600 block of Linden Avenue and remains in the city jail. Taylor says the incidents remain under investigation and may be related to a similar incident in Perry County.
