ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Monday marked the first day of summer in 2016 and for many that means hitting up the pool at the Muskingum Family YMCA.

With temperatures cracking 90 degrees, many kids cooled off in the ‘Y’s’ pool. Emily Miller has been working as a life guard at the pool for four years and said that there is no other place she would rather spend her summer afternoon.

“I love the kids. We always have a bunch of kids here,” said Miller. “Day campers and latchkeys come and it’s really fun to be around them especially on hot days like today”

Visitors can purchase a day pass to the YMCA pool for just $5. Punch cards are also available for $20 and give you seven visits. The pool is open daily from noon till 7 p.m. and will run until Aug. 18. Miller said on warms days like today, the pool could get pretty busy.

“We can have anywhere from 75-to-125. It really just depends on the day,” said Miller.
