The city of Zanesville has a new Treasurer. He is former Zanesville City Law Director Scott Hillis. Whiz News has learned that Thursday night the Muskingum County Democratic Central Committee voted to appoint Hillis to fill the 18 months left on the term of Paul Dubeck who resigned from office last week. Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton says he has no comment on the appointment. In August of 2012 Hillis plead no contest to solicitation and trespassing charges after he was found in a private driveway in Muskingum County with a local prostitute. The Ohio Supreme Court Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline issued a six month suspension of his law license which was stayed on the condition that he commits no further misconduct. Whiz News reached out to the Chairman of the local Democratic Party, Jim Crannel, but he was not available to comment.
