Some of the youth in our community are in need of special guidance.
Big Brothers, Big Sisters is looking for the community’s support to match area children, ages 6 to 17 with volunteers who will serve as a mentor. Executive Director, Mollie Crooks said they have a year around need for Big Brothers Big Sisters and said there is know better time then the present to apply.
“Summertime presents itself as a great time, people are out and about and have all this energy and all these different activities that they could introduce a child to. We would love to encourage someone, everyone to consider matching with one of our kids,” said Crooks.
Crooks said all they ask is that you make a year commitment and that you find time to see your Little at least twice a month.
“Basically anyone can be a big brother or big sister if they have an interest in children and helping kids achieve their goals. We have volunteers that range in age from 18 to mid to late 70’s,” said Crooks.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor for one of the children on the waiting list, you can contact Big Brothers or Big Sisters at: (740) 453-7300.
