ZANESVILLE, OHIO- The Ohio Flags of Honor is a traveling flag display that began in 2006.
Bud Johnson, Ohio Flags of Honor Chairmen for Muskingum, Morgan, and Perry County, said that Muskingum is one of three counties in the entire state that has had the ceremony every year.
“It’s a traveling flag display that honors everyone of the young Ohio heroes that we have lost in the war on terrorism, right now our count stands at 293.” Johnson said it’s a very moving and emotional event. “It’s going to touch you, I’ve been doing this for eleven years now and every year it’s the exact same feeling for me.”
The ceremony will start at 6 p.m. at Zane’s Landing Park and will be open for public viewing until Sunday afternoon.
Johnson said that he encourages everyone to come out this weekend to honor, respect, and support our heroes.
