ADAMVILLE, Ohio – Each year the village of Adamsville puts on one of the area’s biggest homecoming celebrations, and Wednesday the festivities began with their parade.
The homecoming celebration has been a village tradition for 65 years and is put on by the village’s Progressive Council. Bobbi Vernon is a member of the council and said that Adamsville puts on a celebration like no other in the area.
“Adamsville has a reputation of having one of the best homecoming parades in the area, as rumor has it,” said Vernon. “We have a large crowd most every night. We try to keep our entertainment level up to where people have something to do and they can come out and have dinner and be entertained throughout the evening.”
Vernon said that each year hundreds attend from all around the area. In addition to fair food and rides, they crown the homecoming queen. But Vernon said one of her favorite parts is the parade.
“I thought it went great,” said Vernon about the parade. “It was longer than I expected. We have more participation than in the past year or so. I thought it went really well.”
The homecoming celebration runs through Saturday and is capped off with a fireworks display.
