ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The 10th annual golf outing for Eastside Community Ministries took place at Vista Golf Course Saturday morning.
Eastside Community Ministries, Executive Director, Jamie Trout said they hosts this event each year to support their year around youth programs. Trout said on average they service between 32 and 34 youth per year and the children tend to stay with the program from kindergarten to 12th grade.
“Our youth program has kids from kindergarten to the 12th grade that come and we help them with education, character building skills, life skills, bible study, 4-H, Girl Scouts and community service projects,” said Trout.
There are 18 holes and a total of 14 teams participating in the golf outing. Trout said there is a contest at each hole. However, the biggest prize is on hole 18. If you get a hole-in-one you win a $15,000 cash prize.
“It’s important to have the golf outing because, that’s the time for the golfers to meet the youth and just see what our program does throughout the year. It also helps us to sustain the youth program throughout the year,” said Trout.
Trout said they raise between $4,500 to $5,000 each year from this event alone and this year they plan to exceed that amount.
