ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Susan Schneider Hasseler was a guest speaker at Tuesday’s Zanesville Rotary Club meeting.

Schneider Hasseler replaces Anne Steele who served as Muskingum University’s President since 2000.

Schneider Hasseler is going on her second week as President of the university and she says that she has had a wonderful experience so far meeting with the faculty, students, and the community.

She comes to Muskingum University with a lot of goals to accomplish in her years to come at the university.

“I really want to build on the sense of mission that Muskingum has, that’s what really attracted me, to serving all learners. Muskingum has a traditional undergrad program, graduate program, and an adult learner program. All based on this notion that we prepare the learner for the whole world.”

Schneider Hasseler said that she wants to attract a broader audience in order to ensure that students get the proper Muskingum advantage.

One of her other big goals is to connect students to the community.

“I think that our students benefit a great deal from connecting from internships, shadowing, service learning, and some many other opportunities in the community that I would like our students to build on.”

Schneider Hasseler said that she’s excited to build on the already great foundation of Muskingum University in the years to come.
