ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Dozens of local residents looking for fresh local produce flooded the Zanesville Farmer’s Market this weekend.
Jenny Havens of Hopewell, and Owner of Havens Hill Farm said this is their first year working at the farmer’s market. She said the family owned and operated business has been doing everything on a small scale for themselves and this year they’ve decided to take things to the next level by offering their services to the community.
“I think it’s great to get out and meet the people and to educate them about why it’s important to know where your food is coming from and to make sure your dollars are supporting the kind of food you think is important,” said Havens.
Havens said they raise Non GMO pasture chickens and turkeys and naturally managed bee hives and a wide variety of produce. Havens said they decided to go Non GMO because, it is healthier for the buyers and the animals.
“If it’s healthier for the animals its healthier for my family. I’m not going to offer something that I don’t feel is healthy enough for my own family. We don’t use any chemicals, not only for our family but, for our bee’s that is an important benefit of bee keeping also,” said Havens.
If you were unable to make it to the farmers market this weekend, you can call and schedule a visit at Havens Farm at: (740) 787-1471.
