ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This year marks the 50th anniversary since the first group of Devilettes performed here in Zanesville.
The Devilettes are a dance team that was formed in 1966, allowing girls to have an activity to participate in at school. The Zanesville Alumni Association will hold their fall meeting tomorrow night. Wayne Carpenters directs the Devilettes, and is encouraging all alumni and anyone interested to attend.
“Tomorrow night the Zanesville Alumni Association is having their fall meeting, and I will be speaking on the fifty years of Devilettes here in the Zanesville City Schools,” said Carpenter.
Carpenter says they will discuss upcoming events, and how they are trying to change the format of their annual meetings.
“It’ll be a regular meeting. We will talk about the upcoming Homecoming dinner, the scholarships that will be given out next spring. We are trying to change the format this year. Instead of just having a business meeting, we are trying to have a speaker at each meeting to try and make it a little more interesting,” said Carpenter.
The meeting will take place Thursday night at 7pm in the Zanesville Middle School studio.
