DRESDEN, Ohio – Saturday at the American Legion Post 399 in Dresden locals put on a fundraiser for a Sheriff’s deputy hurt in the line of duty.
In June, Deputy Rod Holdcroft with the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, was injured in a crash while responding to a 911 call on State Route 146. Bob Davis with the Sons of the American Legion said they felt helping out Holdcroft was the right thing to do.
“What we’re doing is a spaghetti dinner. Also a silent auction and we have a 50-50 drawing. And all the proceeds are going to him and his family in their time of need,” said Davis.
Dozens were at the American Legion for Saturday’s fundraiser and while Davis said they didn’t have a monetary goal they hoped to hit, they felt confident that they would be able to raise enough money to help the Holdcraft family.
“Some of the guys knew him. He graduated from Tri-Valley. As did I, and most of the members of the sons. We graduated from here and we just thought it was a good thing to do to help out a local guy,” said Davis.
Davis thanked everyone who came out to Saturday’s fundraiser.
