ZANESVILE, Ohio- Members of the United Methodist Women hosted their annual cookie walk Saturday morning.
The hallways of Central Trinity United Methodist Church was filled with the aroma of baked goods. The annual cookie walk is always held on the first Saturday of December.
“The cookies are made by all the members of the church,” United Methodist Women, secretary, Mary Hoover said. “I’ve got 35- 40 bakers. The bakers bring in probably 3 dozen or more. Some bakers in a lot more. It’s something we do every year and we have fun doing it. We act like we’re tired and worn out but it’s the good tired.”
The cookie walk raised $700 last year. All proceeds from the walk are always donated to a charity in Muskingum County.
“And that’s quite a bit at $4 a dozen,” United Methodist Women, member, Judy Sceanlan said.
“Everybody really enjoys the cookies that we provide every year,” United Methodist Women, member, Sandy Holbeind said.
“And the people that bring in cookies end up buying other people’s cookies so they can have a variety. It’s a win-win both ways. We get volunteers and they come in and buy cookies,” Hoover said.
The members of United Methodist Women had yet to decide which charity this year’s proceeds will go to.
