ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Annual Groundhog Day Auction is at the end of this month and the Muskingum County Community Foundation is collecting items for the auction.
The Annual Groundhog Day Auction is Friday January 27, 2017 at 5:00 P.M. in the Zane State Ohio University Zanesville Campus Center. Brian Wagner the Chief Executive Officer said that the board has been planning for months to have a successful event.
“This is a great event I think a part of it has to do with the timing,” said Wagner. “Everybody has a little bit of cabin fever. You know the holidays are five or six weeks after the holidays and that spring thaw hasn’t started yet, everybody’s got a bit of cabin fever and wants to get out and have an event.”
Wagner said the money goes towards the spring grant competition they hold every year.
“Well the grants themselves usually are focused in on an area,” Wagner said. “In years past we really focused in on the arts. When the Zanesville Prize was here in 2014 its inaugural year the dollars there went to help support the Zanesville Prize.”
Wagner said they have some nice items for the auction. They’ll have paintings, bags, a signed football, and a few vacation opportunities. For more information visit the Muskingum County Community Foundation website at mccf.org.
