ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Another local athlete has signed on the dotted line to play athletics at the next level.

On Thursday, Maysville’s Andrew Ford signed his letter to play soccer at Malone University in Canton. Ford said he also was considering Asbury University and Grand Valley State, but made the decision to become a Pioneer because of the school’s Christian background and because of the coaching staff.

At Maysville he was named first team All-MVL, awarded the MVL defensive player of the year award, and helped take the Panthers to a sectional championship. Ford will receive a 35% athletic scholarship in addition to academic scholarships. Ford said getting to play on the same club team as Bishop Rosecrans’ Keagan McLaughlin helped to make him a better player.
